Paperless cuts

Paperless cuts

Author: Mariana Hint-Rääk

DIY culture is booming and the amount of hobbists dressmakers/taylors is increasing. Most do not have necessary knowledge and skills to design cuts of the clothes. At old times cuts were taken from Burda magazine and were drawn on semitransparent paper. Today cuts are mostly downloaded from the internet. However, it assumes having a printer or using copy center services, where wide format printers are available. The cuts from internet give lots of options to choose from and allow to start working right away. However, the process itself is quite time consuming, complicated and uses loads of paper ( 500 paper A4 package can be consumed really quickly).

The idea is to create a solution that uses mini-projector, which would project the cut directly on fabric, which would allow draw the cut lines on the fabric or make the cut right away. The solution would incorporate cut selection platform (mobile app, web page) and projector device.
